Artifical Intelligence is going to save the world, correct? That’s what the techy folks say and the media reports it as gospel. But, we here at CaliforniaBottleofWine.com think it might accomplish some great things down the road, but it has a long way to go.
We decline to put any AI content in these pages. But there’s a button in the editing interface allowing us to generate AI imagery based on the content of the essay. We’ve ignored it. The other day we decided to punch the button and see what would happen. What fun.

We were surprised with it’s power, its use of beautiful light, but not so with its accuracy. You’ll see below how far this particular engine needs to grow.
We queried for an image with a pilgrim holding a glass of red wine as our first attempt. We certainly did receive an image of a pilgrim, but the image was faulty. His wine glass is flying in the air with no hand upon it. Pass Some Vino Brother.
Then we really amped up our creativity asking, how about a pig holding a glass of red wine? This AI engine turned Mrs. Pig’s feet into human hands. It was a little eerie if not cute. Oink, Slurp, Oink.
How about a kitty cat executive holding a glass of red wine while dining? The system gave us a great little picture of a gentrified Mr. Kitty holding a glass at supper. But Mr. Kitty was holding the glass with a human appendage, the cats fifth appendage. Mr. Kitty still had paws on the table along with a human hand of the glass. Meow.
Then we queried for a cowgirl holding a glass of red wine. We certainly received the cowgirl, and two glasses of wine, one floating in front of Miss Cowgirl and the other gripped in her hand, one white, one red. Yippee-Yi-O-Ki-Yay!
Of course we had to ask for seals holding a nice glass of California Wine. Happy Hour on the Beach!
For some friends of ours we requested an AI image for , ‘Two smiling golden retrievers, one old, sitting at bar table with red wine glasses.’ Woof, Slurp, Woof.
As we say on our front page, no AI generated essays nor imagery here, but we’re getting closer to using images that make more sense, like the one below.
So the next time you see an incredulous image on a web site or Facebook, remember, if it’s too good to be true, it isn’t true. We’ll keep creating real essays posted here so you may plan your trip to one of many California wine zones. You may see and AI image here, but they’ll be identified as AI generated.
